The Long Work collects no data about you. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no server of mine for anything to be sent to.
What follows is the detail, but that sentence is the whole policy.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in the app is written to the app's own private storage on your iPhone:
- Your written reflections
- Your saved readings and which cards were drawn
- Which chapters you have opened and sealed, and when
- Your settings for reversals and reminders
None of it is transmitted anywhere. I have no way to read it, and no copy of it exists outside your device except in your own iPhone backup.
Backups
Your journal is included in an encrypted iPhone backup, whether that backup goes to iCloud or to your own computer. That backup is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your own iCloud settings, not by me. Deleting the app removes the journal from the device.
Network activity
The app makes no network requests of its own. It contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, no social login and no third-party components that phone home.
The single exception is the in-app purchase, which is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. When you buy or restore the unlock, your device talks to Apple. I receive no personal information from that transaction — only aggregate sales figures in App Store Connect, which do not identify anyone.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device and never leave it. There is no push notification service and no remote notification of any kind. If you decline notification permission, or turn reminders off, nothing is scheduled.
Children
The app is rated for teens and above and is not directed at children. Since no data is collected from anyone, none is collected from children either.
Your rights
Regulations such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you. I hold none, so there is nothing to access, correct, export or delete.
The data on your device is yours and entirely under your control. You can clear it inside the app with Journey ▸ ⋯ ▸ Reset progress, or remove all of it by deleting the app.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever begins collecting anything — which I have no plan to do — this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the release notes rather than buried here.
